Mount Jiazi is also called Jiazi Feng, or sometimes called Rudshe Konka or Djaze Konka. It is located In Minya Konka Range in Daxueshan Range. It is one of the highest mountains in Minya Konka and a difficult mountain to climb. Few attempts have been made to this mountain. Mount Jiazi is 6549 meters high and a very beautiful mountain.
Approaching
North of Jiazi an be accessed by foot for 6km after the 4000-meter base camp that can be accessed by horses. It gets to the base of north wall by around 5300 meters. The 2 less steep ridgelines of Jiazi are by its north.
West of Jiazi can be accessed by Riuqie Base at around 4200 meters where the horses can reach. From there it is also 5km on foot to the base of the wall at around 5000 meters.
East of Jiazi one needs to access from Nanmenguan Valley by the east of Minya Konka. The base by the east wall is at 4000 meters only, much lower than its west counterpart.
Climbing History
Mt. Jiazi was first attempted in 1981 from west approach. In 1981 a British team reached at 6100 meters and returned.
In 1982 an American team made to the summit via south ridge.
In 1982 an American team reached near the summit and returned due to ice falls.
In 2008 an French team failed to summit.
In 2009 another French team reached a high point on top of Jiazi.
In 2011 October a Chinese team reach the summit of Jiazi via the wall on its west, and named their route “Dance of Freedom”.
In 2018 another team made summit of Jiazi via its east face via Nanmenguan Valley for the first time.
